Choosing A College: How To Start

With more than three thousand colleges and universities from which to choose, every student who takes the time to intelligently explore his or her educational options (and adheres to application and financial aid deadlines) should gain admission to at least three or four institutions in which they are highly likely to be happy and successful. Students and parents will therefore not find the college application process an anxiety provoking experience if they understand there is no single “right” college, if they maintain reasonable expectations, do a little planning, and take full advantage of the many informational resources available to them.

No, we’re not talking about immunizations. We are talking about booster shots for those families that have homeschooled for so long, or so in depth that they have lost the joy of why they started this journey in the first place.
You may be one of those families that has been homeschooling for 9 years or so and now are on the home stretch, or you may be new to the journey and have gotten in over your head and wondered if this is the right choice. Any and all of us could use a Booster Shot at some point.

Why Did This Lake Turn Red?
Scientists are puzzled by the dramatic changes in a lake atop Mount Manaro, a 5,000-foot volcano on the South Pacific island of Ambae. The lake has unexpectedly changed color from blue to bright red. Scientists speculate that the shift could be part of a chemical process or the result of gas from molten volcanic rock entering the lake.
