Lincoln Memorial Dedicated

The Lincoln Memorial is a monument in Washington, DC, which is shown on the reverse of the US penny. It has been the site of many speeches, including Martin Luther King Jr's legendary "I Have a Dream" speech. The building, designed by Henry Bacon and styled after a Greek temple, has 36 massive columns representing the states of the Union at the time.
