Lincoln Memorial Dedicated

The Lincoln Memorial is a monument in Washington, DC, which is shown on the reverse of the US penny. It has been the site of many speeches, including Martin Luther King Jr's legendary "I Have a Dream" speech. The building, designed by Henry Bacon and styled after a Greek temple, has 36 massive columns representing the states of the Union at the time. Lincoln's heroic statue inside was designed by Daniel French, who is said to have shaped Lincoln's hands to sign what in American Sign Language?

Speed reading is a necessity, a skill that is needed to compete in this modern world, when information intake is a significant advantage in any job requirement. Many people believe that in order to improve their reading skills they should focus on reading speed increase in order to improve their reading skills. The focus on reading speed only takes energy away from the main task at hand, understanding and comprehending the text you are reading, so instead of concentrating on the speed in which you read you better focus on the reading, and as you improve you skills in reading you will probably find that you have increased your reading speed.

A new paper published in Science theorizes that it could be possible to produce "cloaking devices." The research centers around metamaterials, which are embedded with tiny metal wires and loops that can refract different types of electromagnetic radiation. Metamaterial could be fabricated to bend light around an object, so that an observer would see right through it.

After Oliver Cromwell's death in 1658, the English republican experiment soon faltered. A strong reaction set in against Puritan supremacy and military control, and opinion favored recalling the exiled king. An emissary was sent to the Netherlands, and Charles was persuaded to issue the Declaration of Breda, granting amnesty to former enemies of the house of Stuart. Charles agreed to return to England and landed at Dover on May 25, 1660, entering London days later. Who succeeded him as king?
