What is Google Spreadsheets?

It’s the “Excel killer”.
Google Spreadsheets is a web-based spreadsheet software (one of the oldest applications in the history of the personal computer) from Google that makes it easier for people to create and share spreadsheets on the web. It enables people to create simple web-based spreadsheets that others can simultaneously update from their own computers. It’s a free, secure service that will save people the hassle of manually consolidating spreadsheets from others - a tedious and mind-numbing task.

These are the main features:

  • It allows multiple users to share and edit spreadsheets in real-time.
  • It has no limit to the number of people with whom one can share his or her spreadsheet.
  • It integrates contextual-ads (Adsense)
  • It is not “A Microsoft-thing”
  • It is free

It lacks some of the sophisticated features of its PC-based counterpart but… hey, it is free!

Now it is a “Limited test” it is accessible only to a small group of people, first-served basis, with a limitation: they cannot create more than 100 spreadsheets or import files bigger than 400kb.
If you want to try it out just ask for an invitation.
