The Fabergé eggs, 50 jeweled "Easter eggs," were created for the Russian tsars by famed jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé between 1885 and 1917. The 1st egg was made in 1885, when Tsar Alexander III of Russia commissioned it as an Easter surprise for his wife, Maria Fyodorovna. The tsarina was so delighted with the gift that Alexander requested an egg each year thereafter, stipulating only that it be unique and contain a surprise. Nicholas II continued the tradition. Where are the eggs today?
