The International Olympic Committee Is Founded

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, that was founded by Pierre de Coubertin with the aim of reinstating the Ancient Olympic Games that were held in Greece (776 BCE - 396 ACE). Today, the IOC provides a single legal entity which owns copyrights, trademarks, and other intangible properties associated with the Olympic games; it owns and administers the Olympic logos, for example.
