Sally Ride Returns to Earth

Sally Ride is a former astronaut and the first American woman to reach outer space. She grew up in Los Angeles, California, and received bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Stanford University. Her first space shuttle flight was In 1983, when she served as a crewmember on board the Challenger. Ride later served on the panels that investigated the Challenger and Columbia shuttle disasters.
