Dental Disease Implicated in Development of Atherosclerosis

A new study's findings suggest that gum disease may contribute to clogged carotid arteries, leading to an increased risk of stroke. Using panoramic x-rays, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles found that dental disease was much more prevalent in people with carotid atheromas than in those without.
