Trompe L’oeil
Trompe l'oeil ("trick the eye" in French) refers to an art technique that creates the optical illusion that depicted objects really exist. A Roman period trompe l'oeil mural might show a window that optically enlarges a space. With the understanding of perspective achieved in the Renaissance, painters began to add trompe l'oeil features to their works; for example, a painting might feature a boy who appears to be climbing out of the frame. What popular American film employs trompe l'oeil?
