Madame de Pompadour
Madame de Pompadour was King Louis the XV's mistress for about five years after 1745 and remained his confidante until her death. Of middle-class origin, she owed her success mainly to her intelligence and capabilities, and she contributed to a number of political and cultural events. At the time of her death, she was blamed for the involvement of France in the disastrous Seven Years' War. How old was she when she died?
