De la Renta is a Dominican-born American fashion designer whose work has strongly influenced the fashion world since the 1970s. Originally trained as a painter in Madrid, de la Renta first entered the industry as a sketcher with some of Spain's top fashion houses. Later, he moved to NY to design the couture collection for Elizabeth Arden. In 1965, de la Renta began his signature ready-to-wear label. What political post was de la Renta offered?
