Tiger Habitats at Risk
A study by a coalition of conservation groups found that tiger habitats worldwide have shrunk 40% in the past decade, and the worldwide tiger population has declined to about 7,500 globally. The study identified 76 areas in India, Russia's Far East, and parts of Southeast Asia that are capable of supporting tiger populations. Conservation groups advocate protection for tiger breeding areas and an increase in efforts to link different tiger habitats.
