China Braces for Typhoon

Authorities in China evacuated tens of thousands of people from parts of Guangdong province and the neighboring island province of Hainan in anticipation of Typhoon Prapiroon, which is expected to make landfall in southern China late Thursday or early Friday. The typhoon, which is packing winds of up to 80 mph, has already killed 6 people in the Philippines. Rescue teams throughout the area are on alert for floods and landslides.
