Gunpei Yokoi

Yokoi was one of the most important figures in the history of the Nintendo video game company. While employed there, Yokoi designed the Game Boy handheld game console and improved the D-Pad, the cross-shaped multi-directional input device found on most modern control pads. He also helped produce many popular arcade games, including the original Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. What simple product, developed by Yokoi for his own amusement, sold 1.2 million units and launched his career?
