Water Pollution Creating Hermaphrodite Fish

Abnormal male fish carrying undeveloped eggs have been found in the rivers around Washington. Scientists believe the development of these hermaphrodite fish is linked to estrogen-like chemicals in the water. The water authority, which draws from the Potomac and Occoquan rivers to provide service to about 1.5 million people, is working with the US Geological Survey and other agencies to eliminate potentially harmful compounds.
