New Bird Species Discovered

An amateur birdwatcher has found the first new bird species to be discovered in India in over 50 years. The bird was spotted in the hills of the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, bordering China, and is named Bugun liocichla after the Bugun, a native people who live on the edge of the sanctuary. The multi-colored bird is described as a type of babbler, and the known population of the species consists of only 14 individuals.
