A Drug to Treat Stuttering?

Researchers at Indevus Pharmaceuticals in Lexington , Massachusetts are testing a new drug called pagoclone that could become the first medical treatment approved for stuttering, a condition currently treated primarily through speech therapy. Researchers believe that pagoclone works by lowering dopamine levels in the brain, in keeping with a theory that maintains that the brains of stutterers contain too much of the neurotransmitter.
