Columbia Broadcasting System Is On the Air
Filed under: add to del.icio.us
CBS was one of the three major broadcasting networks to dominate radio and television in the US before the advent of cable TV in the 1990s. CBS began broadcasting in 1927, with station affiliates scattered throughout the US. CBS's first television broadcasts in 1939 were largely experimental, but as television came to the forefront of American entertainment, CBS dominated television as it once had radio. When did CBS often control 7 or 8 of the slots on the "top 10" ratings list?
