Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are small hard masses that form from deposits of phosphates and urates. They typically leave the body through the urine stream and can cause severe pain, depending on their size. Because the most common type of stone is formed from calcium oxalate, it was thought that a diet high in calcium encouraged their development; there is, however, strong evidence suggesting that the opposite is true. What are some preventive measures people can take in order to avoid getting kidney stones?
