Jimmy Carter
Carter served as US President from 1977-1981. While his foreign policy met with some success—Carter mediated the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt and signed an arms treaty with the USSR—his domestic policy was less effective. His administration was unable to control oil-related inflation or reduce unemployment, factors that weakened his 2nd presidential bid. Since leaving office, Carter has been active in a number of human-rights causes. He received what prestigious award in 2002?
