Gandhi is remembered as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century for his success in securing India's independence from British rule through non-violent civil disobedience. After India's independence, Gandhi focused on promoting Hindu-Muslim peace and unity, but he was assassinated in 1948 by a Hindu fanatic. His methods have inspired notable civil rights leaders throughout the world, including Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela. What is satyagraha?
