A Screaming Cell Phone?
A UK firm has developed a cell phone security system that sets off a high-pitched scream when a phone is stolen. The system also deactivates the handset and wipes all data in the event of theft. Customers' information will be centrally stored to allow contacts, ring tones, and other data to be accessed with a new handset. The system is designed to curb phone theft in Britain, where insurer Halifax estimates a handset is stolen every 12 seconds.
