Dengue Outbreak Plagues India

India's health minister announced that 2,900 suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported in the country, with the death toll currently at 38. Female Aedes mosquitoes transmit dengue, whose symptoms include high fever, joint pain, headache, and vomiting. Outbreaks of dengue come at the end of monsoon season, when puddles of stagnant water allow for mosquitoes to breed. India's annual outbreak normally dies off in November.
