Will Adhesive Bandages Become a Thing of the Past?
Researchers at MIT and Hong Kong University have developed a biodegradable liquid that could eventually replace adhesive bandages as treatment for wounds. When the liquid, composed of protein fragments called peptides, is applied to an open wound, the peptides self-assemble into a gel that seals the wound and stops bleeding. Eventually, the gel breaks down into amino acids that can be used by surrounding cells for tissue repair.scaremonger

Giuseppe Verdi
Verdi's romantic and nationalistic operas were widely popular during his lifetime and are considered masterpieces today. Many of his themes transcend the boundaries of the genre and have taken root in popular culture. Despite the composer's widespread popularity, some critics describe his works as overly simple and shamelessly melodramatic. Though the baptismal register for October 11, 1813 lists Verdi as "born yesterday," his date of birth remains a source of debate. Why is this?Quebec’s Pierre Laporte Kidnapped
The separatist Quebec Liberation Front's (FLQ) kidnapping of Pierre Laporte, Quebec's Vice-Premier and Minister of Labour, began the October Crisis, during which the Canadian government assumed sweeping emergency powers to combat the insurrection. Though the FLQ had carried out approximately 200 violent crimes since 1963, the October Crisis provided the impetus for the government to search out and arrest a number of the group's members. What happened to Laporte?Robin Hood
This legendary hero of 12th-century England is most recognized for robbing the rich to help the poor. Chivalrous, manly, fair, and always ready for a joke, Robin Hood reflected many of the ideals of the English yeoman. He lived in Sherwood Forest with Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marion, and his band and is the hero of numerous Middle English ballads and many later stories and plays. Where does the first historical mention of Robin Hood appear?
