Psoriasis Linked to Increased Heart Attack Risk

A new study found that adults with psoriasis appear to be at increased risk of heart attack. The link seems especially strong among young adults with severe cases of the disorder, which causes itchy, painful patches of thick, red, scaly skin. Psoriasis is thought to be an autoimmune condition in which the body makes too many skin cells; researchers believe the immune abnormalities that cause the condition may also increase the risk of heart problems.
