New Type of Mouse Discovered in Europe

A previously unknown type of mouse was discovered on the island of Cyprus. It is the first new terrestrial mammal species discovered in Europe in decades. The mouse has a bigger head, ears, eyes, and teeth than other European mice and is found only on Cyprus. Experts believe it was native to the eastern Mediterranean island, survived the arrival of man on Cyprus, and could be considered a "living fossil."
