Is Teflon Safe?

DuPont Co., the US chemical maker, said a long-term mortality study of 6,000 workers at a West Virginia factory shows the substance used to make Teflon coatings doesn't harm people. An Environmental Protection Agency scientific advisory board has said perfluorooctanoic acid, which is used produce the Teflon nonstick coating for pots and pans, is a likely human carcinogen. The EPA is still evaluating the chemical's human-health effects.
