Is That Scowl Genetic?
Israeli researchers at the University of Haifa discovered there's probably a genetic component to facial expressions. The research team compared 21 blind people along with about 30 of their sighted family members by filming as many as 43 expressions of various emotions such as happiness, sadness, and anger. In about 80% of the cases, family members could be accurately linked to individual participants based on their range of facial expressions.
