Rafael Leónidas Trujillo
Trujillo controlled the Dominican Republic from 1930 to 1961. Although he won respect for allowing Jewish refugees into the country at a time when other nations were turning them away, his regime was considered autocratic and ruthless. He used terrorist methods to repress Dominican opposition, and in 1937, to stop Haitian infiltration, he ordered thousands of Haitians massacred. Trujillo was killed by members of his own armed forces. What role did the CIA purportedly play in the assassination?
