Wilhelm Röntgen Discovers X-rays
While experimenting with electricity, German physicist Röntgen produced peculiar wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that he called x-rays. His x-ray machine gave medicine a critical view inside the body and allowed bones to be photographed to help identify fractures and other abnormalities. He received the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his discovery. X-rays had been produced, but their significance missed, at what US university two years prior to Röntgen's discovery?
