DEFINITION: (adj.) Characterized by or causing the absorption of heat; endoergic. SYNONYMS: heat-absorbing, endothermal. USAGE: Endothermic reactions are often described as reactions that "feel cold," and they contrast with exothermic reactions, in which heat is released.
