Tooth Decay Is on the Rise for Kids
Experts are concerned about the prevalence of cavities in the baby teeth of children ages 2 to 5. According to a new report, tooth decay in baby teeth increased to 28% in 1999-2004, from 24% in 1988-1994. Researchers say inadequate dental care may play a role in the trend, as does the fact that parents are giving their children more processed snack foods than in the past, and more bottled water or other drinks instead of fluoridated tap water.
