The Black Hand was a secret society founded in Serbia in 1911. It was a splinter cell formed after military officers grew impatient with the wider nationalist movement's moderate efforts to reunite Serbs after the Austro-Hungarian annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Black Hand supplied weapons and assistance to 15 people in a plot to assassinate the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand while he was visiting present day Bosnia. What did the assassination trigger?
