Jotun

In Norse mythology, the Jotun are a mythological race of giants with superhuman strength, described as standing in opposition to the gods. In sympathetic representations, they are the carriers of old wisdom, but more frequently, the Jotun represent the forces of primeval chaos and of untamed, destructive nature; their defeat at the hands of the gods suggests the triumph of culture over nature.
