An investigation by researchers at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia revealed that a number of laser printers release toner particles into the air. The study, which examined emissions from 62 different printers, rated 17 as "high particle emitters." These ultra-fine toner particles are capable of infiltrating the lungs and causing lasting damage; exposure may lead to an increased risk of lung disease, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
