Johann Sebastian Bach
One of the most influential composers of the Western world, Bach was a counterpoint virtuoso. His compositions are masterful baroque works that enrich the existing German style with polyphonic mastery. There are over 1,000 known compositions by Bach, including his Brandenburg Concertos, which are recognized as the best concerti grossi ever composed. Bach's family had produced musicians for 200 years, and Bach's violinist father was also his teacher. How old was Bach when his father died?
